Keeping forests wild in the Northeast, United States

Part of

The Eagle Mountain Wildlands project is part of a larger Wild Carbon project that includes four Wilderness Preserves from the Northeast Wilderness Trust that protect 6,142 acres across Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont and New York. Your donation is helping expand the Eagle Mountain Wildlands project to include new wilderness preserves. Your support ensures the forests stay “Forever Wild” with legally-binding agreements. This means that the wild forests on these lands will be protected in perpetuity—far beyond.

Detailed description

These carbon credits are generated only on newly protected wildlands that have, or will receive, additional permanent legal forever-wild protections such as a conservation easement. This promises the lands will be free from extractive uses and will store and sequester carbon naturally – forever! The Eagle Mountain Wildlands project protects forests that contain a mix of pine, hemlock, birch, maple, beech and oak trees and the properties are also managed to project rare, endangered or threatened species – for example, endangered Peregrine Falcons build their nests on high-reaching cliffs at the property. The Eagle Mountain Wildlands project offers unique “Wild Carbon” credits. These carbon credits are generated only on recently protected wildlands that are permanently conserved with a Forever-Wild Conservation Easement. This legally binding agreement promises the lands will be free from extractive uses and will store and sequester carbon naturally – forever!
